There is nothing more frustrating than a slow computer when you are in the middle of important work. Often, our computers slow down due to minor issues that can be easily fixed. Here are 5 simple ways you can speed up your PC right at home:
1. Disable Startup Apps: Many applications automatically start running as soon as you turn on your computer, which increases boot time. To stop this, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, go to the Startup tab, and Disable unnecessary apps.
2. Clean Temporary Files: Press Windows + R on your keyboard, type %temp% in the Run box, and hit Enter. Select all the files that appear and delete them. This will instantly free up cached memory.
3. Keep the C-Drive Empty: Never let your main drive (usually the C Drive where Windows is installed) fill up completely or show a red bar. Move large files from your Desktop or Downloads folder to another drive.
4. Turn Off Animations: Visual effects and animations look great, but they put extra pressure on your RAM. Go to your PC settings, search for performance options, and select 'Adjust for best performance' to turn off heavy animations. Your PC will feel much faster instantly.
5. Upgrade to an SSD: If your PC is still running on an old mechanical Hard Disk Drive (HDD), it's time for an upgrade. Installing a Solid State Drive (SSD) for your operating system can make your PC up to 10 times faster.
